Gestalt Psychotherapist RPQ, BA

Welcome, you are in the right place.
The universal word that brings us to therapy is suffering. To suffer is a human experience and therapy can be a vital support for you. In our therapy sessions, you will learn how to engage with yourself, your suffering and your relationships in new ways.
As you learn and explore this frontier, your life will start to shift.
My services
Therapy Sessions Online and In-Person
I work with individuals who are committed to their therapeutic journey on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. If you are curious about Gestalt Therapy, I offer a free 20 to 30-minute consultation/ intake session. This gives us both an initial window to get to know each other and sense if we are a fit.
In this consultation, you can expect me to ask you some personal questions. I also encourage you to come to the call with any questions that you may have. I will do my best to answer your questions in the time we have together.

I charge $ 150 for a 50-minute session. I do have a sliding scale. Currently, my sliding scale spots are fully booked. If you are interested in being put on my wait list for this consideration please contact me via email at pcowan@gestaltmail.ca. I believe therapy needs to be accessible so I work to keep a balance for this in my practice.

As a Gestalt Therapist, I believe that true and organic change requires two foundational ingredients. The first ingredient is awareness and the second is a capacity for self-support. I know these skills and capacities can be developed in the Gestalt therapeutic process because I witness this with my clients every day. If you have struggled to make shifts in your life or struggled with self-acceptance, you in all likelihood need to develop these capacities for support and awareness. These are not skills that can be developed by reading a book, watching a video or taking a psychotropic drug. They can be developed over time, in a safe space, in resonance with a therapist.
I work to create the conditions for you to experience greater levels of self-awareness in the therapeutic space. Together we explore what self-support feels like for you. I do this by helping you to cultivate a deeper capacity for being present for yourself and the other, in the here and now. In this process, we gently expose outdated beliefs that no longer serve you and you learn to sit at the edges of new possibilities. The work is nuanced, subtle and powerful, and it does require a willingness to engage deeply and commit to a wholesome, heartfelt level of self-responsibility.
